DMO seals unlicensed scan centre

DMO inspects 200 scanning centres out of 240; the rest to be checked soon.

Kochi: In the continuing raids on scanning centres in the district over the past month, the squad, led by District Medical Officer Dr Hasina Muhammed, on Thursday sealed one in Perumbadappu which was functioning without a license despite a warning to close two weeks ago.

"'The Life Scan' at Fathima Hospital, Perumbadappu, which was functioning unauthorisedly, was sealed.

We understood that the hospital owners were allowing another person to run the scanning centre on rent, and even on Thursday, the day it was asked to close, they had done 20 scans. So we acted on it," Dr Hasina said.

She said that nearly 240 scanning centres were functioning in the district and the team had inspected nearly 200 of them while the rest would be checked in the days to come.

“We have identified four centres working without proper authorisation. They have been warned and action will be taken against them if they violate rules again.”
