Ministry of renewable energy is providing 30 per cent subsidy on solar PV units on their rooftops.

Visakhapatnam: The EPDCL is wooing city population for generating solar power at their rooftops for utilisation and to reduce the burden on conventional power.

Though the state government had recently allowed single-phase users to avail of subsidy for setting up solar photovoltaic power units, there was not adequate response.

The ministry of new and renewable energy has been providing 30 per cent subsidy on solar PV units on their rooftops.

District manager of NREDCAP forwarded the application to the ministry for subsidy. Three-phase power users were eligible for the facility and they can arrange for net metering.

Seeing the poor response from the consumers the government has recently announced additional 20 per cent subsidy on the units as part of its policy on solar power.

The EPDCL officials are planning to organise camps for students and general public on the schemes being implemented.

Chief General Manager-Commercial, B. Ramesh Babu, said they would be organising awareness sessions from December 14-20 for students and general public on various schemes.
