Luthra eyes top show at DGC

New Delhi: Former Asian Games gold medallist Amit Luthra is keen to put on a strong show in 0-6 handicap category at the Epson Delhi Golf Club (DGC) qualifier of Toyota IGU National Club Challenge, starting here tomorrow.

This is going to be the final and biggest team selection round of Northern region where more than 450 club members of DGC above the age of 18 (men & ladies) will participate over two days.

A 3-handicapper Luthra, who grew up playing at the Delhi Golf Club, said, "It's an honour to be playing under the banner of this club where I started my game at the age of seven. Though, golfers in my category will be giving me a tough competition, I am pretty confident to make it to the North Zone Finals in such a prestigious event."

Players will compete in five different handicap categories which are 0-6, 7-10, 11-15, 16-20, 21-24 and individual winner in each handicap category will get a chance to represent their club team along with the 6th team member who will be nominated by the club.

Thus, the team selected will go to the second stage of the North Zone Finals, which will take place at Noida Golf Club on December 20.

At the 18 hole Zonal finals, the best five 18 hole total stableford scores of the six players will make the team score and the top two teams from each of four Zonal finals will qualify for the third stage - the National Finals.

The Club qualifiers, Zonal Finals and National Finals will be played in individual Stableford off 3/4th handicap allowance.
