BJP MLAs want to back AAP

Fearing re-election may not help them to retain seats, BJP MLAs want to extend support to AAP.

New Delhi: With the Aam Aadmi Party outrightly rejecting the Congress offer to form the government, the Congress local leadership feels the new outfit was not keen to take up the new role as it could not deliver the promises it had made to its voters.

Many Congressmen feel the AAP is intentionally trying to push for re-elections as they believe the result may again turn in their favour since they are riding high on their magnificent victory.

Meanwhile many BJP legislators are in the process of writing a letter to their party leadership to support the newly-formed AAP to form the government in the national capital.

Fearing re-election may not help them to retain their seats, some BJP MLAs have already conveyed to the party leadership that they would like to extend their support to the AAP.

“Since the AAP is strongly against the Congress, the BJP should offer unconditional support to the party,” a newly-elected BJP MLA said.

Delhi Congress leader, Haroon Yusuf said the AAP is “scared”, since they know they cannot deliver on the promises made to the people of Delhi. “Keeping in mind the Lok Sabha elections, AAP is trying to hoodwink the mandate of the people. They are scared. Since their promises like 50 per cent cut in power tariff or providing 700 litres of water to houses monthly are highly impossible to deliver,” he said.

He said that even while the Congress offered its “unconditional” support to the Arvind Kejriwal-led party, the debutant party refused as it would “expose” them among the people.

Yusuf’s views were also echoed by the party compatriot Mukesh Sharma, who said that the “real reason” the AAP is unwilling to stake claim to form the government is because they know that it is “impossible” to fulfil the promises they had made.
