Poll results: BJP sees results as ire of public against Congress

BJP national general secretary P. Muralidhar Rao described the Assembly election results.

Karimnagar: BJP national general secretary P. Muralidhar Rao described the Assembly election results in four states as a reflection of anger of people against the Congress’ brand of politics and governance.

Muralidhar Rao was addressing a press conference here on Monday. He opined that the people rejected the policies and schemes of the Congress by voting for BJP.

The BJP leader claimed that the results did not suggest anti-Congress wave, but reflected pro-BJP surge, he observed. “We are emerging as a major political force in the four states. Therefore, the party is an alternative to the Congress,” he said.

Rao said that BJP would offer robust and constructive governance to the people who elected them. He further claimed that the BJP registered 100 per cent increase in seats in Madhya Pradesh and 43 per cent in Delhi, but lost 10 per cent in Chhattishgarh.

The BJP leader hoped that the trends would continue in Andhra Pradesh also. He advised representatives of people from the Congress to serve better until they were in office to avoid lose in polls where the BJP is expected to sweep off.

Attributing the Congress party's mindset to suicides of youth in Telangana, he alleged that the Congress had not tendered apologies to families of the martyrs. But, the BJP had recognised sacrifices of the martyrs, he maintained.

Answering to a question, he said that the BJP would join together with a political outfit that tries to debacle the Congress government at any point of time. His remarks gained significance in the backdrop of Aam Admi Party's (AAP) impressive win in its debut. He admitted that the AAP had registered a remarkable victory in the assembly polls held in Delhi.
