TP?accused made 10K calls from jail
Kozhikode: The cyber cell officials collected the call details record (CDR) of four mobile phones believed to have been operated from the Kozhikode district prison between December 3, 2012 and December 3, 2013, according to sources.
Going by the details, the subscriber identity module (SIM) card of number 9847562679 used by Kirmani Manoj made over ten thousand calls, including international calls. Another SIM card used by Muhammed Shafi (9562945872) was inserted in 17 mobile phones. The cyber cell sleuths also are verifying the International Mobile-station Equipment Identity (IMEI) number of various mobile phones in which the SIM card was inserted.
Police confirmed that the numbers were used by the accused as the majority of numbers went non-operational on the day reports were aired on the FB postings. Moreover, all the numbers were operating from two towers- one near the Comtrust Hospital and the other near the Kalyan Silks, near the district prison. During the one year period, the calls were made from the same direction of the tower, it is learnt.
Meanwhile, the mysterious visit of K.K. Lathika MLA to the district prison last Monday (December 2) after a news channel aired the details of the pictures uploaded on FB by the undertrial prisoners of TPC murder case has raised many eyebrows. It may be recalled that the police despite search operations had failed to locate any of the high-tech mobile phones used by the accused.
Lathika, who arrived at the prison along with party workers to hand over the dress to her husband P. Mohanan Master, key accused in the TP murder, spent more than 45 minutes in the prison, according to CCTV visuals at the entrance.
Though Lathika and Mohanan met in the presence of the jail welfare officer, there was no CCTV installed in the visitors’ room to verify the interaction and to check whether they exchanged anything apart from dress.
Jail DGP T.P. Sen Kumar on Monday sought a report from the jail superintendent on the visit of Lathika. However, a police raid on the jail and its premises on Monday failed to locate any mobile phones.
