Kotla stays away from no-trust
Anantapur: At least five MPs, including YSR Congress president Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy and former Union minister of state and Rajamepeta MP A. Saiprathap of the Congress from Rayalaseema gave notices for a no-confidence motion against the UPA government.
Nandyal MP S.P.Y. Reddy, who recently shifted loyalties from the Congress to YSR Congress and two Telugu Desam MPs Nimmala Kristappa of Hindupur and Shivaprasad of Chittoor were among those who signed the notices for moving the no-confidence motion.
With the UPA government neglecting the Seemandhra people over its unilateral decision on bifurcation, the MPs have started supporting the no-confidence motion to stop the division process.
However, Anantapur MP Ananta Venkatrami Reddy, and the Union minister of state for Railways Kotla Surya Prakash Reddy, who hails from Kurnool, have not signed the notice, sources said.
YSR Congress president Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy had been meeting many leaders and CMs hoping to drum up support to move a no-confidence motion against the UPA government. Meanwhile, the Union Cabinet approved the draft Telangana Bill last week, based on the recommendations of the GoM.
After Jagan and S.P.Y. Reddy gave notice for the no-confidence motion against the UPA government, Congress MP Saipratap from Rajampeta of Kadapa district joined with other MPs from the coastal region. Similarly, two TD MPs from Seema have also sought permission to move no-trust motion against the UPA.
Hindupur MP Nimmala Kristappa of TD said the no-confidence motion would teach the UPA government a lesson for trying to split AP unilaterally. “The GoM had no clarity about the future of backward areas and other sensitive issues, but approved the decision,” he said.
