Kochi: After e-literacy and common payment gateway for government services, the Akshaya is now focusing on connecting the rural households to a well- functioning financial system.
Around 500 biometric-based banking kiosks are soon to start functioning at selected Akshaya franchisees later this month. The system, being implemented in association with the State-Level Bankers Association, will be launched in Ernakulam on December 16 .
“The scheme requires installation of micro ATM machines that work on biometric interface. The training programmes are on for the Akshaya entrepreneurs and it will be implemented on receiving the bio-metric ATM machines,’’ said P. Bala Kiran, director of Akshaya.
