Srikakulam: Police nabbed a six-member inter- state gang of thieves and recovered gold and silver ornaments from them on Monday.

According to Sompeta CI, G.V. Ramana and Kanchili SI, K. Govinda Rao, the gang burgled locked houses in seven villages in the limits of Sompeta and Kanchili police stations between May and November this year.

The gang was held while moving under suspicious circumstances on NH-16 near Kanchili mandal headquarters, during police patrolling on Sunday night. They confessed to the crimes.

Hyderabad: Three burglars were arrested by the Trimu-lgherry police on Monday. Those arrested were identified as Pasupathi Sriramulu, 37, an autorickshaw driver, Ganta Prashanth, 36, autorickshaw driver, and Aheik Altaf, 26, a homeless labourer from Musheerabad. The accused are said to be involved in nine cases.

According to R. Jaya Lakshmi, DCP, North Zone, Sriramulu, an ex-convict from Vijayawada, was released from the sub-jail in Narsaraopet of Guntur district.

The gang looks out for locked houses during the day and break into them at night.During interrogation it was learnt that the accused were involved in other cases in Trimulgherry, Bollaram, Bowenpally, Uppal, Kushaiguda police stations.

The cops recovered 320gms of gold, one kilo of silver articles and Rs 35,000 from the accused. They have been remanded to judicial custody.

Hyderabad: Two brothers, who used to snatch bags containing cash in various states, were arrested by the Kharkhana police on Monday. The accused targeted customers at banks. They used to divert the attention of victims and escape with the money. The accused, Mithun Gwala alias Pujan Singh and Manoj Gwala alias Manoj Yadav, are from Jalpaiguri in West Bengal.

Manoj was earlier arrested by Delhi police under the Arms Act in 2007. The accused are habitual offenders and had committed over 100 crimes in West Bengal, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Bihar and Delhi. The cops recovered Rs 73,000, three cellphones, SIM cards and fake ID cards. from them.

Teamed up with Jatin Shah and Amit Chand who are from the same village are experts in snatching and dickey offenders.
According to Ms.R.Jaya Lakshmi, deputy commissioner of Police, North Zone, the gang travels in trains and gets a Bajaj Pulsar bike with them in luggage. They stay in moderate or cheap lodges near the Railway stations on a pretext that they are textile traders, etc.

They mainly target corporate banks for committing the crime. They conduct reccee also. “One from the gang enters into the bank and looks for the customer withdrawing huge sum, while one will be on surveillance outside the bank, and the remaining two will be on the bike, on a ready mode. On receiving a signal from the accused inside, the accused on the bike follow the victim and wait for an opportunity to snatch away the cash bag." The DCP said.

They follow some attention diversion technique to commit the crime, which also include spraying of chemical which causes itch, throwing currency on the ground, dashing the victim’s vehicle and snatching away the bag. They also break open the car doors, puncture the tyres and flee with the cash bags.

They after snatching the cash bag, flee from the spot and the stolen booty. They later park the vehicle at the parking lot near Railway stations. They also have a parking slip, duplicate key and some cash. Incase they are traced by the cops, and anyone is nabbed, the others will flee in the bike. They obtain SIM cards on fictious names, and will dispose both the phone and the card after the offence to avoid arrest.

The accused were arrested in a lodge near the Secunderabad Railway Station. On interrogation they confessed to have snatched 5 cash bags in Kharkhana and Marredpally apart from one at Jaipur, Rajasthan state. The cops recovered about
Rs 73,000, three cell phones, SIMcards and fake ID cards from them. Efforts are on to trace the other accused, cops said.

Hyderabad: The Kharkhana police arrested a house burglar and a booty receiver. The burglar is involved in about 110 cases in three southern states, including AP, Tamil Nadu and Karnataka. He, along with other associates, would select the houses in high profile colonies and rob them.

The gold would later be pledged and used for pleasure trips, cricket betting, and races. The accused, Bhukya Nagaraju Naik and Guthikonda Pavan Kumar select independent houses and enter them by either breaking open the doors with an iron rod, or removing the window grills, police said. The cops recovered about 850 grams gold, 2 kg silver, all worth about Rs 30 lakh from the accused.

police were alerted on his movements, and the duo were nabbed near the Secunderabad railway station on Monday while they were waiting to take a bus to Charminar to dispose the stolen booty.

“It was during an interrogation, that Nagaraju Naik confessed that he had committed about five day and night house burglaries in Kharkhana police station limits,” said detective inspector V. Nagaiah.

In AP alone, Bhukya Nagaraju Naik has committed offences in Hyderabad, Cyberabad limits, apart from Mailavaram, Machilipatnam, Vijayawada, Guntur, Tenali, Tirupati and others places. He was earlier arrested many times and was sent to Chanchalguda, Cherlapally, and other prisons in the state.

He along with other associates Uma Maheshwar, Suresh, Bhaskar, and Vijay Krishna are active since 2007.

"He pledges the gold in various corporate banks and uses the money to lead a lavish life by going on trips to various places in South India. He also spends on Racing Clubs, Cricket betting, Gambling and stays in star hotels.

To avoid him being traced, he continuously changes his cell phone numbers, address and locations," said the DCP.

The cops recovered about 850 grams gold, 2 kilos silver, all worth about Rs.30 lakhs from the accused.

Woman, grandson die in murder-suicide pact

Visakhapatnam: A 55-year-old woman committed suicide after poisoning her daughter and 6-month-old grandson, at her house at Devarapalle in Visakhapatnam district on Monday morning.

The elderly woman and her grandson died while her daughter was admitted to hospital, where her condition is said to be stable.

Police is yet to be ascertain the reason behind the suicide attempt.

According to reports reaching here, Kadari Pyditalli’s daughter K. Devi married her boyfriend Killadi Nanaji of Devarapalle against her family’s wish, two years back, which led to antagonism between Pyditalli and Devi.

Devi gave birth to a baby boy, six months ago, and the mother-daughter duo began getting closer since then.

A week ago, Devi, along with her baby boy, came to Pyditalli’s house. On Monday morning, Pyditalli reportedly bought milk and made tea, which she gave to Devi. Then she fed the baby with the milk and later she had tea. After sometime, the trio went back to sleep again.

Around 8 am, noticing a strange stillness in Pyditalli’s house, her neighbours knocked the door and on failing to get a response, they broke open the doors and found the trio lying unconscious. Soon they alerted police and called for 108 ambulance service.

SI, Devarapalle, M. Babu Rao said they found Pyditalli and the baby boy dead. Sensing that Devi was still alive, she was shifted to KGH in Vizag.

Babu Rao said a case has been registered under Section 174 of CrPc and that they were probing the incident to ascertain the reasons behind the death.

Pyditalli’s neighbours suspect that she offered tea and milk laced with poison to her daughter and grandson.

Visakhapatnam: A dacoit, involved in several robbery cases under various police station limits in Chittoor, Visakhapatnam and Srikakulam districts, has been arrested at Old Gajuwaka area in the city while trying to sell the stolen gold and silver ornaments.

The crime wing cops of VPS?police station recovered 300 gm of gold ornaments and around 2,100 gm of silver ornaments, all worth Rs 8 lakh, from him on Sunday night.

Commissioner of police B. Shivadhar Reddy, on Monday, said N. Mahendra, 32, a native of Gajulamanyam area near Tirupati in Chittoor district, has decided to commit offences to lead a lavish life.

He was involved in several offences in Chittoor district and when Tirupati police launched a manhunt, he shifted his base to Anakapalle area in Vizag district, few years back.

He burgled houses at Anakapalle, Kasimkota, Gajuwaka, Anandapuram and other areas in Visakhapatnam and Srikakulam districts.

30-yr-old woman found murdered

Hyderabad: A 30-year-old woman was murdered by unidentified persons at her house in Gajwel at Medak district on Monday. She was attacked with sharp weapons when she was alone in the house. She died on the spot.

According to police in Gajwel, the victim, Pushpa alias Pushpa Kumari, 30, wife of Buddaram. was a native of Rajasthan who moved to the area recently. Buddaram is a financier and has a shop nearby.

He left for work on Monday morning. At around 9.30 am, he returned home to take some cash and found his wife dead in a pool of blood. A murder case was registered and is being investigated.

2 friends end life by taking poison

Hyderabad: Two friends committed suicide by consuming poison at Ambernagar, near Jamai Osmania in Chilkalguda on Monday. The reason for the double suicide is not yet known.

The deceased have been identified as B. Sampath Kumar, 27, a medical representative belonging to Gajwel in Medak district and K. Sampath, 28, a civil engineer from Kamareddy in Nizamabad district. Both were friends from the time they were studying MBA at a private college in Hyderabad.

Kumar had been working for a company for the last six months. A couple of days ago, he quit the job to start his own business. Sampath used to frequently visit Kumar at his residence.
Inspector Mohammed Khaja Moinuddin said since a week, Sampath had been coming to Kumar’s room. On Sunday, both of them went out.

They were out the whole day and returned at night, had dinner and slept. On Monday, the two attempted suicide by consuming poison. While Kumar died on spot, Sampath was shifted to Gandhi Hospital, but was declared brought dead.

Kumar’s uncle Nagaraj stays in the area and it was he who got the room for his nephew to stay. As Kumar did not pick up his cellphone, Nagaraj went to the third floor of the building to check, and found him dead. “It was his uncle who saw them first. He immediately shifted them to hospital,” police said.

The cops are yet to ascertain the reason behind the suicides. “There was no suicide note. There were laptops and cellphones, which are locked.

We are trying to unlock them to get clues. Unfortunately, B. Sampath’s mobile got a call from a company offering him a job. I had to inform them that he was dead,” sub-inspector Khaja said.

Meanwhile, Nagaraju said that his nephew B. Sampath Kumar was busy with work, never showed signs of depression nor spoke about any problem.
