Sahara Q Shop plans to open 1,000 outlets in AP by Mar 2016

Q Shop, the FMCG and retail wing of Sahara, have set a 2016 deadline for the venture.

Hyderabad: Sahara Q Shop, the FMCG and retail company of Sahara India, announced plans to open 1,000 exclusive brand outlets across Andhra Pradesh by March 2016 to capture the growing consumer market in the state.

According to a release issued by Sahara, the company would also expand its dealer network by signing more than 1,000 new distributors in next three months to reach over 2.5 lakh grocery stores to provide '100 per cent unadulterated quality' consumer merchandise.

Sahara Q Shop would generate employment opportunities for close to 7,000 people from the state through its operations directly and indirectly.

These would include 1,900 people directly working for the company and 5,000 working for its business associates like distributors and vendors, the release further said.

Sahara Q Shop's Executive Director Romie Dutt said they see a growth of 30 per cent in demand for fast moving consumer goods in the state and are going for a holistic expansion by adopting omni channel approach to be available all over in Andhra Pradesh.

"We are expanding the network of distributors to provide our products to more than 2,50,000 grocery stores across the state. Simultaneously, we are opening 1,000 exclusive brand outlets as that gives us an opportunity to showcase our entire range of products. Local sourcing of spices, pickle and regional assortment is also in pipeline to satisfy the unique taste of people in the state," Dutt said.

The company would open 100 stores by March 2014 and take the number to 500 in next one year.

By end of March 2016, the number of stores would reach 1,000. The FMCG and retail firm would also source products from local vendors.

In the beginning, spices and pickles would be sourced locally. Local assortments would also be added to the product portfolio going forward, the company said.
