Leap the Lewis way!

Dance guru Terence Lewis will be in town for a special dance class.

He's called the walking talking 'Google man'. Dance choreographer, Terence Lewis, an encyclopedia on dance, will be in Bangalore on December 14, as part of the Tarantismo Creative Dance Company's Master Class by Terence Lewis.

He will train dance enthusiasts, who will get a chance to shake a leg with the Master himself and his toli of super instructors in Bollywood and contemporary technique.

Terence has worked with most of the top Bollywood stars. We ask him who was his favourite and he admits, “I have thoroughly enjoyed working with Madhuri Dixit Nene as her personal trainer at one point in my life and I admire her as a performer. Very few can mirror the grace with which she performs. Although I must say I do admire a few from the new breed as well like Deepika Padukone, Katrina Kaif, Hrithik Roshan, Ranbir Kapoor, Ranveer Singh and Shahid Kapoor."

We prod him on how much fun it is to work with the stars and he retorts, “Working with stars is not always fun as many are pretty nervous when it comes to dance. I make it a point to put them at ease and once that happens, the fun element automatically sets in and shows in the final performance on the screen."

Talking about his recent film projects, he shares, “Besides choreographing for 'Ram Leela's "Ang lagaa de", I haven't taken up new projects as my goals are clear. I want to make dance education accessible to all in India through my professional courses: Diploma in dance or the Dance Pe Lo Chance."

About judging the reality shows, Terence feels, “All the episodes of 'Nach Baliye 6' had a great atmosphere, especially those when Bharati was a guest or having Raju Srivastav itself was a big de-stresser."

Trained in jazz, ballet and contemporary dance in New York, Terence knew from the age of six, that he wanted to dance.

“I loved seeing the happy faces every time I performed and those light moments in times of struggle were all so worth it. I used to watch television in neighbouring homes and come back and replicate the steps in front of my family. Eventually I was picked up for a dance scholarship in school by Pervez Shetty my first dance teacher who sowed the seeds of dance."
