'I want to be known as an artist', Remya Nambeesan
Remya Nambeesan, talented actress and singer, is on a high with songs she has sung turning into chart-busters.
She also has three films lined up in Tamil. She realises that being in the film industry is no magic carpet ride.
Remya's passion for acting and playback singing is perhaps in her blood. Her father, Subrahmanium Unni, is a former theatre artist and an active member of popular troupes. Her brother Rahul is a popular playback singer in Malayalam, who has crooned a song in the blockbuster film, 'Thattathin Marayathu'.
Her singer's avatar
I have been singing in Mollywood for quite a few years now. Being trained in Carnatic music for more than eight years helped me survive as a playback singer. But it was music director Imman, who roped me in to sing for the first time in K'town, in Vishal's 'Pandiayanadu', and the song turned out to be a hit. Imman sir has listened to many songs of mine in Malayalam, and he also said that he loved my voice.
Singer or actor?
Well, I want to be an artist. I don't want to restrict myself only to acting, I want to explore every possible aspect of cinema as it's my only forte. But acting is something that paved the way for me and gave me the opportunity to be a playback singer. Acting and singing both give me happiness and I don't want to leave either at any point of my life. ?
