Prabhu says, ‘I’m content’

'R... Rajkumar' may have received a critical drubbing on its release.

'R... Rajkumar' may have received a critical drubbing on its release, but the audience seems to have been a little more appreciative of the masala romance-action package. Director Prabhu Deva was pleasantly surprised when a complete stranger walked up to him at a single screen theatre in the Mumbai suburbs and complimented him.

“At the end credits, a man who seemed to be in his 60s, tapped Prabhu on the shoulder and said, ‘Your direction has a certain rhythm’. To hear such praise for his manner of storytelling, that too from a layperson, was quite a unique experience for Prabhu,” said a friend of the filmmaker.

With steady collections for his film being reported from single screen theatres, Prabhu was also happy that his target audience was satisfied with 'R…Rajkumar'. “Isn’t this what matters at the end of the day?” Prabhu said, when contacted. “When your producers are happy, your actors are happy and a moviegoer comes and says something good to you, picking out nuances that even as a filmmaker, you haven’t brought in consciously, you do feel content with your work.”
