TN BJP leaders see Narendra Modi wave in country
Chennai: The results of the Assembly polls in four states in north India indicate a pro-BJP mood across the country and people are ready to send the “corrupt and anti-people” Congress packing home, BJPstate president Pon Radhakrishnan has said.
Commending the impressive performance of the saffron party in New Delhi, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan and Chhattisgarh, Radhakrishnan said this “massive victory” has proved that the Narendra Modi wave is beginning to sweep the country.
“This (wave) will dethrone the Congress in the 2014 Lok Sabha elections. I have been touring several villages and towns in Tamil Nadu and can judge the general mood among the people that they want our prime ministerial candidate Modi to take up the reins of the country and give good governance,” he said.
“This (results of four Assembly elections) is only a semi-final match. The finals will be played in 2014 when the people will dislodge the Congress,” BJP national executive member L. Ganesan said, and added that the deterioration in law and order, inflation and failure of the Congress on all fronts and the increasing popularity of Modi were the factors that helped the party win handsomely.
“We would have won more seats in Delhi but the AAP played spoilsport,” he said. The victory has put the TN unit on cloud nine. Since morning, as election results came in, party members swarmed Kamalalayam – the party headquarters here - in large numbers, and celebrated the victory by bursting crackers and distributing sweets. They see that the prospects of a saffron wave under Modi’s leadership would help the state win in the Lok Sabha polls.
