People want BJP: Venkaiah
Hyderabad: BJP leader M. Venkaiah Naidu on Sunday said the results of the four Assembly polls were an indication that the people were for the BJP and want Narendra Modi to lead the nation.
Speaking to the media after the results of the four states Assembly polls were out, Venkaiah said that though the Congress had made a large number of promises to the electorate in Rajastan and launched a campaign against Modi, the people did not believe it.
He said the return of the BJP governments in Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh was an indication that incumbency was not a factor in the elections. The results showed that the good work by governments would always pay rich dividends, he said.
He said that the Congress could gain some seats in Chhattisgarh, particularly in the Bastar region, due to sympathy following the Darbha massacre.
In which several key functionaries of the party were killed in a Maoist ambush. That the Congress which ruled Delhi for 15 years was reduced to single digits was another indication that an antiCongress wave was sweeping the country, he said.
