NOTA fails in Delhi, but makes cut in other states

According to EC updates, less than one per cent votes in Delhi were polled for NOTA.

New Delhi: The AAP and NOTA (None Of The Above) made a debut in the Delhi Assembly election. Unlike the AAP, which attracted a huge voteshare, NOTA did not even get one per cent.

Overall, 220,490 people chose to exercise the NOTA option, according to results known till 2.45pm on Sunday.

Rajasthan, with 87,609 voters choosing the option to reject all candidates, had the highest number of NOTA voters among the states that went to the polls.

According to EC updates, less than one per cent votes in Delhi were polled for NOTA. In a few constituencies such as Bijwasan, Sangam Vihar, it reached one per cent.

NOTA got over 45,600 votes, or 0.58 per cent of the total votes in Delhi, the state election commission said. As the results were declared on Sunday, NOTA was not a preference for most of the voters in Delhi.

In MP’s Vidisha, Chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan’s constituency in Madhya Pradesh had 1,368 voters choosing the NOTA option and Rajasthan’s CM nominee Vasundhara Raje’s Jhalarpatan constituency in Rajasthan saw 940 NOTA votes.

Chhattisgarh had 67,222 NOTA voters and the highest was in Chitrakot constituency, which is a scheduled caste reserved seat, with 6,460 seats
