Victory for schemes

My government is functioning as per the path shown by MGR, says Jaya.

Chennai: The AIADMK’s victory in the Yercaud (ST) Assembly by-elections showed that the various welfare schemes implemented by her government during the last two-and-a-half years had reached the people, AIADMK supremo and chief minister J. Jayalalithaa has said.

“The AIADMK’s massive victory reflected the recognition given by the voters of Yercaud to the various welfare measures launched by the AIADMK regime,” Jayalalithaa said, while addressing party workers who turned up in large numbers at her Poes Garden residence to greet her on the massive victory at Yercaud.

“My government has been functioning as per the path show by the founder and former chief minister M.G. Ramachandran and initiating various welfare measures to benefit the common man. The voters of Yercaud have expressed their happiness with our good work,” a visibly elated Jayalalithaa added.

The chief minister also thanked the voters of Yercaud, party headquarters functionaries, state ministers, AIADMK workers and leaders of alliance parties for working for the victory of AIADMK candidate P. Saroja.

“The fact that the AIADMK candidate was leading by more than 30,000 votes showed that the AIADMK’s massive victory was ensured,” she added earlier in the day, while reacting to the counting trend from the hill station.

It was celebration time for party workers, as they assembled at the party headquarters and at the chief minister’s residence and celebrated the victory by distributing sweets and bursting crackers. Jayalalithaa also received bouquets from her ministerial colleagues at her residence.

Several senior leaders, including party treasurer and finance minister O. Panneerselvam, distributed sweets to party members and the public.

Also, people gathered in large numbers in front of the Chief Minister’s Poes Garden residence here and thanked her for the resounding victory in the Yercaud by-elections.
