NGOs to besiege Assembly
Visakhapatnam: APNGOs president P. Ashok Babu, on Sunday, said they have finalised an action plan to intensify Samaikyandhra agitation in the coming days.
Speaking to mediapersons here, Ashok Babu, who is touring the three districts of north Andhra to garner support of the government staff and NGOs for the stir, said that they were ready to lay siege to the state Assembly, whenever the Telangana draft bill is introduced. The APNGOs, across the 13 districts of Seemandhra, will target central government offices to send a strong message to the union government, he said.
“We will target central government offices like banks, PSUs, organise rasta rokos and rail rokos. We will ensure that all transactions at the central government offices are stalled. We have spoken to various trade unions of the Visakhapatnam Steel Plant, Vizag Port and many other PSUs and sought their support. A strong message has to be sent to the Centre to withdraw its proposal on separate statehood to Telangana,” he said.
He wanted union ministers from both the regions to meet the president of India and speak to him about the problems that would arise due to division and also withdraw their support to Telangana bill, when it is introduced in the Parliament.
He urged all political parties to come on to a common platform for Samaikyandhra stir. Ashok Babu said they would burn the portraits of union ministers from both regions daily as long as the Parliament sessions are underway.
