Majeed Gulistan has alleged that 'Black Forest' is a remake of his movie

Majeed Gulistan, a children's film maker and State award winner of The Bird Catcher has alleged that Black Forest, another children's film, which was showed for the first time to the public today, at the 18th IFFK 2013,is a remake of his film. However, Joshy Mathew of Black Forest which will be released early next year told DC that it’s a baseless allegation.

The Bird Catcher had won the State award for the best children’s film in 2010. The film portrays a forest officer’s school going kid who gets lost in the forest by a trap laid by poachers, who had a grudge with his father. Mr. Gulistan who has taken over 50 short films told DC that he was surprised to see the re-make of his film at Kalabhavan theatre today.

“So far I was mum on this re-make film as it was not good to comment without seeing. Today I got the opportunity to see it and was taken aback by the similarities of the two films”, said Mr. Gulistan.

Mr. Mathew’s Black Forest was censored during fag end of 2012 and had bagged the national award for the best film on environment conservation.

“I am challenging the film maker to prove if there is any resemblance. Just because I have got a good producer and also when it’s going to hit the theatres in January 2014, he is raising baseless allegations”, said Mr. Mathew who has also been the director of Nakshatra Koodaram and Oru Kadamkatha Poale to DC.
