PILs contribute to justice, says Chief Justice
Vijayawada: Chief Justice of the AP High Court Kalyan Jyothi Sen Gupta here on Saturday said that the Public Interest Litigations contribute to social justice.
Speaking at the C. Padmabha Reddy memorial lecture, the event organised by the Indian Layers Association, Justice Gupta he said that the PILs were helping protect the people’s rights.
“It is the responsibility of the courts to ensure justice to all in the city. The people should use PILs to highlight their genuine concerns and get these social problems resolved,” the judge said.
Justice Gupta said that the Legal Services Authorities have been established to ensure that the people get justice at minimal expense.
AP High Court judges Justices C. Praveen Kumar, M. Satyanarayana Murthi, district judge G. Chakaradara Rao, Indian Association of Lawyers working president Chalasani Ajay Kumar, AP Bar Council chairman A. Narasimha Reddy and Bezwada Bar Association president Matta Jayakar were also present.
