International designer Maria Fernanda D'Harcourt, from Mexico, is on her first visit to India and enjoying it in all its flavours to adapt them in her new collection.

The designer, who is in Kochi for her first Indian Show, International Fashion Fest organised by Pegasus, is preparing to set up a brand in the city to showcase Indo-Mexican collections.

The young designer says she chose Kochi as she has quite a few friends and fellow designers. “I love India and its designs like the Indian saree. I'm looking forward to exploring the fashion industry here and creating a product that is a fusion between Mexican and Indian designs. It will also be an introduction of Mexican culture to India. The brand will be launched in seven to eight months. I'm still working on the idea as it is my first trip to India and I'm still learning from my experiences here. I still haven't decided if I should move to Kochi to concentrate on the new brand," says Maria.

Referring to her collections in the upcoming fashion fest Maria says they will be casual wears and Mexican in design.

“The traditional designs of Mexico have always intrigued me and my efforts have been to capture that essence that essence and bring it on to the fashion scene. I studied design from IBERO University and Scoula Italiana di Firenze and have been in the fashion industry for five years now," she adds.

Maria has done International shows like DF Fashion Week, Elle Magazine Runway Show and Liverpool Fashion Week. She currently owns and runs her own Mexican brand called Marian Espo Collection along with actor and model Anson Paul.
