Magnetic Appeal

There’s something magnetic about our country that attracts millions of tourists.

There’s something magnetic about our country that attracts millions of tourists from across the globe every year. To celebrate the uniqueness of our culture and heritage, artists Shalinee Ghosh and Krishna Kumar started a small company called Froggmag that designs exclusive fridge magnets inspired by Indian monuments and folk art.

The duo designs novel daily life products like fridge magnets, puzzles, bookmarks, stationery items and notebooks, which are inspired by landmark historical buildings like Taj Mahal, Red Fort, Qutub Minar, India Gate and many more. Speaking about the design sensibilities of the brand, Shalinee says, “We started this company almost three years ago, and we manufactured fridge magnets with pictures of Indian monuments that could be gifted as souvenirs. If you go abroad, you’ll find a lot of fridge magnets that are used as souvenirs, however in India, there are very few stores where you can find such knick-knacks. After we started making these products, we got a good response and slowly we also started designing jigsaw puzzles for young children using Indian themes.”

Speaking about the various product themes, Shalinee says, “My husband is a photographer and for our products we use pictures that are clicked by him. Through these products we try to show the vibrant side of India. Earlier we were just limited to historical monuments, but now we have also started using prints of Indian art and crafts. We recently did a line of products based on traditional arts of India like Madhubani paintings, mirror work and temples of Khajuraho.”
