Rich tributes paid to B.R. Ambedkar
Rajahmundry: Rich tributes were paid to mark the 57th death anniversary of Dalit icon and Indian Constitution-maker Dr B.R. Ambedkar by a large number of leaders from several political parties, heads of several educational institutions and organisations and Dalit leaders and activists at several parts in Godavari districts on Friday.
In Rajahmundry, local Congress MLA Routhu Suryaprakasa Rao and other leaders and activists garlanded the statue of Dr Ambedkar located near Gokavaram bus stand and paid homage. Speaking on the occasion, the legislator called upon especially the youth to take the leader as a role model in their life to realise their goals.
Telugu Desam state executive committee member Ganni Krishna and other party activists paid floral tributes to the Dalit leader. YSR Congress leaders including MLC Adireddy Appa Rao, party city convenor Bommana Raj Kumar, BJP city president Kshatriya Balasubramanyam Singh and other activists, CPM leader T. Arun, ABVP activists and several Dalit leaders and activists paid tributes to the Dalit leader to mark the occasion.
ONGC asset manager P. Krishna Rao garlanded the statue of Dr B.R. Ambedkar and paid homage at a programme held on the premises of the organisation. He called upon the youth to draw inspiration from the ideals of the Dalit leader. Nearly 121 students of Class X and XII were given away merit certificates and cash awards.
At Amalapuram, TD leader Gollapalli Surya Rao garlanded the statue of Dalit leader at Triratna Buddha Vihar and paid tributes. He described the leader as the champion of women’s rights and liberty.
At Eluru, Schedule Kulala Hakkula Parirakshana Samithi state secretary M. Santosh Kumar called upon the people to follow the ideals of the Dalit leader. Dalits garlanded the statues of Dr B.R. Ambedkar located at several places to pay tributes to him in the town.
