Karman to meet Ukranian Anastasiya in girls final
Mumbai: Sixth seeded Delhi girl Karman Kaur ousted compatriot Nidhi Surapaneni in straight sets to breeze into the girls singles final of the CCI-ITF junior tennis tournament here today.
The 15-year-old Karman, who won 6-3 6-3, will meet 16-year–old Ukranian Anastasiya Klymenko in the final tomorrow at the Cricket Club of India's courts.
Anastasiya defeated India's Sanjana Sudhir 6-3 6-4 in 90 minutes in the other semi final.
India's challenge in the boys' event ended when Paramvier Singh Bajwa of Chandigarh was easily disposed off by Thailand's left-handed Chanudom Wiriyajanyong in the semi- finals.
The Thai boy, who knocked out top seeded Ukranian Alexey Prokopchuk in the quarters, was at his best against Paramveer to record a facile 6-4 6-2 victory.
He will take on third seeded Chak Pong Lam, of Hong Kong, in the final after the latter ousted second seeded Sri Lankan Sharmal Dissanayake 6-0 6-2 in less than one hour in the other semi final.
