Kochi: Dinu Shadil scored a brace to help Dayapuram school seal a 3-0 win in the final of the Sahodaya football tournament in Kozhikode Dayapuram Residential School earlier made it to the semi final beating Devagiri Public School on penalties.
Dayapuram Residential School emerged as champions in the Sahodaya Football tournament, defeating Omassery Pleasant English School, 3-0 in the final of the tournament held at Pallotti Hill Public School in Kozhikode on Thursday .
In the final match, a first half brace by Dinu Shadil gave Dayapuram an early lead in the game. Though Pleasant English School attackers tried their best to beat Dayapuram defence, the champions came up with timely interceptions to deny any chance for the Omassery team.
In the second half, Pleasant English School continued their challenge but Afsal scored a third goal to give Dayapuram an indomitable 3 goal lead and the title.
Earlier in the quarterfinal match, Dayapuram defeated Devagiri CMI Public School in an equally contested match.
After a goalless fulltime, Dayapuram got better of their opponents in penalty shootout 4-2 to enter the last four.
In the semifinal, Dayapuram defeated Peeves School Nilambur, 1-0, to storm into the final. Dinu Shadil became the top-scorer of the tournament.
