AIADMK to have its general council and executive meetings on December 19.
Chennai: The ruling AIADMK has convened both its general council and executive meetings here on December 19.
Party supremo and Chief Minister J. Jayalalithaa informed that the meetings would be held at 3 pm at Srivaaru Venkatachalapathi Palace Hall at Vaanagaram. She said AIADMK presidium chairman E. Madhusudanan would preside over the meeting.
The meeting assumes significance in view of the ensuing Lok Sabha elections. Jayalalithaa urged all members of the council to take part in the meeting without fail.
The crucial meeting is likely to spell out party’s strategy for Lok Sabha polls next year. According to sources, the meeting is expected to discuss the prevailing political situation at the state and national level, besides adopting resolutions on key issues.
The party general secretary has been urging cadres to strive for the victory in all the 40 Lok Sabha seats: 39 in Tamil Nadu and the lone seat in Puducherry.
During the meeting in December end last year, Jayalalithaa had announced her decision to go it alone in Lok Sabha elections, as both the Congress government at the Centre and the BJP government in Karnataka had failed to ensure the just Cauvery water to Tamil Nadu.
Even in the state Assembly, she had hinted that regime change was imminent at the Centre and that the anti-people policies of the Congress would be thrown out.
