Kochi: CM Oommen Chandy will open the renovated north railway over bridge for traffic on December 29.
The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation which undertook the reconstruction of railway over bridge, as part of the preparatory works of Kochi Metro Rail project, completed the work in record time.
It was in 2011 that the reconstruction of over bridge started after demolishing the old bridge.
Though it was earlier announced that the RoB would be opened by November, some unexpected issues like bursting of water supply lines have delayed the project.
The construction of side bays of the over bridge were opened for traffic in December.
Reconstruction of the over bridge, at a cost of Rs 80 cr, is one of the major preparatory works of Kochi Metro undertaken by the DMRC.
