Modi's heart bleeds for Kerala family

Modi writes a condolence letter to the BJP worker's father who was stabbed to death in Kannur.

Thiruvananthapuram: Gujarat Chief Minister and BJP's prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi wrote a condolence letter to the father of 35-year-old Vinod Kumar, the BJP worker who was stabbed to death in a clash between CPI-M and BJP workers at Payyannur in Kannur on Sunday.

Modi wrote the letter to Mr Chandrasekharan on Wednesday, addressing the latter as Snehi Shree Chandrashekaranji translate and salutations as saprem namaskar.

He stated that he was shocked to know about the brutal and sad demise of his son Vinod Kumar.

He wrote that no words of condolence can soothe the bereaved father's heart as he has lost the most valuable asset of his life, his son.

'I convey my deepest of sympathies to you and the family and pray to God that may He strengthen you all to withstand the grief and may his soul rest in eternal peace,' wrote Modi.

The condolence letter concludes, 'Rest assured that I, the people of Gujarat and all the BJP family is with you in your time of distress. God bless the departed soul.'

A BJP source told Deccan Chronicle that this is the first time a leader of Mr Modi's stature has sent a condolence letter to a bereaved family in the State.

"Kannur is at the heart of political violence in the State. With Lok Sabha elections round the corner, Modi is trying to garner maximum sympathy from the BJP and RSS strongholds in Kannur," a top BJP leader told this newspaper.
