S.P. Balasubrahmanyam?and Shankar Mahadevan croon for 'Jilla'

There has been an unwritten tradition in Kollywood to compose and picturise an intro song.

There has been an unwritten tradition in Kollywood to compose and picturise what’s called an intro song or opening song that glorifies the hero.

One may recall opening songs like "Adhaanda Idhaanda" from 'Arunachalam', "Oruvan Oruvan Mudhalali" from 'Muthu' and "Ballelakha Ballelakha" from 'Sivaji' that announced the grand entry of Superstar Rajinikanth in those blockbusters. Fans likewise expect a similarly grand introduction for actors Ajith and Vijay.

Having known the pulse of audiences, filmmaker Nesan, who is busy directing one of the most anticipated films, Jilla, has created the space for an opening song in which the two mega stars, Mohanlal and Vijay, execute a dance number.

Music composer D. Imman wrote on his microblogging website, “Opening song giants of Tamil cinema come together for Jilla lending their voices for Lal sir and Vijay anna.”

Legendary singer S.P. Balasubrahmanyam and Shankar Mahadevan have crooned the intro song. Music director Imman told DC, “The opening song explains the beautiful relationship between Vijay anna and Lal sir. The lyrics are beautiful. So when choosing singers, I immediately thought of SPB sir and Shankar Mahadevan, who have lifted the song.”

Imman confirms that all the numbers for 'Jilla' have been composed and recorded. One may expect the audio to be released in a couple of weeks while the film will hit theatres this Pongal.
