Almost every actress in Tollywood has been booked for a performance this New Year’s eve.
Given the number of parties taking place, the actresses charge astronomical rates for a couple of dance numbers and the organisers happily comply. Sources say that even mimicry artistes are in demand for the night.
This year, not only the regular clubs and restaurants, but also residents of gated communities want to bring in the New Year with a bang. Managers of stars and event management companies are thus receiving enquiries from across the state to perform at New Year’s events.
Sources say that while the top actresses hardly ever take up these assignments, those in the middle-rung do not miss to cash in on the opportunity.
Actress Sanjjanaa says that she will be performing in Bengaluru. “I am getting lot of calls even to perform in Hyderabad. But I stick to Bengaluru as I am comfortable there,” says Sanjjanaa who will be performing at a Club, Bengaluru. “I will dance to a couple of songs,” she adds.
While the actress didn’t reveal how much she was charging, sources put the figure at around Rs 16 lakh.
Meanwhile, Charmee will be performing at a Club in Hyderabad. According to a source, the actress is charging around Rs 18 lakh for the evening.
Poonam Kaur, who is busy shooting for a Tamil film in Malaysia, is also in demand. “Yes, I am getting calls but I still haven’t decided,” she says, adding, “There’s still time; once my schedule here is done, I will take a call.” If she decides to perform, she will charge around Rs 15 lakh, says a source.
A manager, who looks after a few actresses, says that he got a call from the US enquiring about Rakul Preet and Regina, relative newcomers, to perform there, but they were not interested. He adds that the organisers were willing to pay hefty amounts.
Hamsa Nandini, the latest item girl in Tollywood who was in Mirchi and Atharintiki Daredi, will be performing in a restaurant at Vijayawada. Kamna Jethmalani, meanwhile, is performing at a resort in Karimnagar.
Mumaith Khan may perform at the Film Nagar Cultural Club in Hyderabad and Shradha Das too might perform.
“Most of the actresses are going to perform. This is the best time for them,” says a manager.
One event manager says that they are getting calls from other parts of Andhra Pradesh like Guntur and Anantapura, asking for mimicry artistes for the evening.
