Rituparna hopes for more roles in Mollywood
Rituparna Sengupta had recently met Mammotty when he was in Kolkota. She spoke him about her part in the Malayalam film 'Kadhaveedu', which was scripted by M.T. Vasudevan Nair and directed by Sohanlal. Mammootty told her that it would be nice to work with together in a film. She replied, “Let’s stop thinking about it and do it.” The Bengali actor is that much in awe of Malayalam cinema, where the subjects are so realistic. She hopes to do more, just as Kadhaveedu gets ready to be screened at the 18th International Film Festival of Kerala.
“I have heard so much about it. It’s such a big festival but I’m not sure if I can come this year,” says the actor who is busy with seven of her movies which are releasing soon and working on three others — two in Bengali and a Hindi film. “I have in fact acted in the Hindi remake of a MalayaÂlam film once.”
Rituparna says she is upbeat about having acted in the script of a great writer like M.T. Vasudevan Nair. She found the hero Kunchako Boban to be ‘a silent, nice actor’, more so because of his character, which did not have a lot of dialogues. She hums a song Kaatile Poomanam as she describes the music in the movie that she loved. “I look forward to doing more female-oriented films in Malayalam in future,” she adds.
