HCA Jr selectors barred by RR court

A Ranga Reddy issued a directive restraining two members of the HCA junior selection panel from taking part in the selection process.

Hyderabad: A Ranga Reddy additional district and sessions judge on Tuesday issued a directive restraining two members of the Hyderabad Cricket Association's junior selection panel from taking part in the selection process.

Hearing a petition filed by Crown Cricket Club, contending that Amarnath and Imran Mehmood are ineligible to select players to represent Hyderabad as they haven't played at either the under-19 or the under-22 levels. The petitioner further argued that to allow the duo to continue in their roles will be in violation of the HCA's constitution.

According to HCA bye-laws, “The members of the HCA junior school selection committee shall be nominated out of the players who have played for Hyderabad either under-19 or under-22 teams.“

The judge granted an injunction, restraining the respondents from participating in any matters pertaining to “selection, nomination or act of kind in respect of cricketers to represent Hyderabad“ till December 12.
