Tribunal to check illegal buildings
Hyderabad: The government will set up a building tribunal to deal with the everincreasing menace of illegal constructions in Hyderabad.
Approving stringent measures, the Cabinet on Tuesday said it would give building owners a chance to state their stand.
The Cabinet also permitted the Water Board to take a Rs 1,000-crore loan from HUDCO for the 13.375 crore project to bring Godavari water to the twin cities. The Cabinet allowed IT companies to transfer land in the event of change of ownership, provided the new management fulfills its obligations towards providing jobs.
Information minister D.K. Aruna said the MCH?Act of 1955 will be amended to give quasi-judicial authority to the tribunal?to weed out illegal buildings.
The Cabinet also increased the compensation for kin of victims of extremist violence. In case of death of MPs, MLAs, MLCs and Zilla Parishad chairpersons, the amount was enhanced from Rs 15 lakh to Rs 30 lakh, permanent incapacitation from Rs 3 lakh to Rs 10 lakh and grievous hurt Rs 1 lakh to Rs 3 lakh.
For police, the compensation in case of death was enhanced from Rs 9 lakh to Rs 25 lakh to constable and SI ranks and from Rs 12 lakh to Rs 30 lakh for inspector and above.
The compensation was increased from Rs 5 lakh to Rs 10 lakh in case of death of civilians.
