Rathore abuses Cantonment CEO, booked

Ex-MLA taunted her on marital status; ex-MP Sanghvi abused cops.

Hyderabad: Former BJP legislator Prem Singh Rathore has been booked for allegedly making sexist remarks against Secunderabad Cantonment Board CEO Sujatha Gupta during a recent agitation near the Agrasen Trust.

Rathore had allegedly said that he would get Gupta married to fix her psyche and that he would shame her near the Agrasen Trust.

The police has booked a cased for sexual harassment under the Criminal Law Amendment Act. Former MP Girish Sanghi has also been booked for abusing policemen at the same rally along with 20 others.

Police had earlier booked a case against Rathore, Sanghi and 20 others under various sections for abusing policemen and calling them “dogs who run behind Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy’s convoy.” However, after the statement of Gupta was recorded, she being a witness, the cops added a case of sexual harassment against Rathore.

According to the police, Rathore had allegedly said that two types of women had psychiatric problems, those who were not married and those who were married, but lived away from their husbands.

The former MLA made further derogatory remarks against Gupta stating that she was already married, but was still having psychiatric problems, so they could get her married again at the Agrasen Trust to “fix her psyche”.

B. Manohar, assistant commissioner of police (Begumpet), in his complaint said, “Girish Sanghi used vulgar language against the police, comparing them to dogs, and delivered a speech to cause mutiny or offence against public peace.

Stay on Sanghi arrest

"Prem Singh Rathod used defamatory language against Sujatha Gupta, effecting damage on her personal life," he added.

Girish Sanghi, Rathore and 20 others were carrying out a rally of the Vaisya Samaj and others last month against demolition of structures at Agrasen Bhavan.

Police also booked a case against Sanghi, Rathore and 20 others for violating prohibitory orders and other sections. Section 354A(4) for making sexually coloured remarks was added against Rathore.

Sanghi obtained a stay on his arrest from the High Court.
