Kochi: Kochi City Police Commissioner K.G.James, who had been looking into the allegations that the police had sabotaged the traffic warden assault case, has given the investigating officials a clean chit.

As per his inquiry report, the police officers who handled the case did not make any deliberate attempt to support Vinosh Varghese, the accused. Further, it also denied the allegations that the police had misled the court in their bid to bail out the accused. The report was prepared after a thorough examination, he said.

It also noted that the police had sought the assistance of the Cyber cell to probe the incident. On the fear that the victim could face some sort of threat from the family of the accused, the report stated that she was not threatened by the accused though she was afraid that the accused would hurt her family.

The report was handed over to Kochi Range Inspector General Padmakumar by Tuesday. The Commissioner had called Padmini, the traffic warden to his office last week and recorded her statement.
