Bandh against Rayala Telangana plan tomorrow
Hyderabad: The Telangana Rashtra Samiti that has been quiet for four months since the announcement of the creation of Telangana state is to resume its agitation to oppose the proposal of Rayala Telangana, which involves the addition of two districts from Rayaleseema to the 10 Telangana districts.
TRS chief K. Chandrasekhar Rao gave the call for a bandh on December 5 in the Telangana region, after discussing with senior party leaders the central government’s latest proposal of Rayala Telangana.
On December 4, in the entire Telangana region, in all the Assembly constituencies, mandal headquarters and all villages, TRS cadre and youth will take out rallies protesting the Rayala Telangana proposal, he said.
The bandh is called for December 5, the same day that the Union Cabinet is expected to take the final decision on the state’s division. Rao appealed to businessmen, traders and others to observe the bandh voluntarily and make it a success. He asked Telangana government employees to boycott work and stage dharnas.
On December 6, the TRS politburo will meet and chalk out a plan of action after observing the Union Cabinet’s decision.
Rao flayed the Congress for going back on its word. “The CWC and Union Cabinet took the decision on the state’s bifurcation and announced that Telangana state will be formed with 10 districts and Hyderabad as its capital.
They announced the number of districts, Assembly and Lok Sabha constituencies and also state boundaries,” Rao said, and added that he smelt a conspiracy in the Rayala Telangana proposal.
He warned of a major battle if the UPA government went ahead with the new idea of clubbing Kurnool and Anantapur districts with Telangana to form Rayala Telangana state. He said that they will not rest till their goal is achieved; they are prepared to do everything that is required to achieve the target.
