IPS officers posted at Dharmavaram
Anatapur: After a long gap, the police authorities posted an IPS officer at the highly sensitive and faction-hit Dharmavaram police division, in addition to posting a SP at Anantapur.
Abhishek Mohanthy, son of former IPS officer, A.K. Mohanthy, has been posted to Dharmavaram in the district.
The authorities also shifted S. Senthil Kumar from Hyderabad to Anantapur. The 2008 batch IPS official, Senthil Kumar took over charge from Anantapur range DIG Balakrishna, on Monday.
Speaking on the occasion, SP S. Senthil Kumar told newsperson, at his office, that he would try to develop friendly policing in the district. “Access between the police and common people should be developed as part of policing,” he said and added that common man should have free access to the police to lodge complaint at the police station instead of being afraid.
Referring to many pending issues, including huge circulation of fake currency, Senthil Kumar stated that stringent action would be initiated to curb all illicit activities.
Sources said, Dharmavaram ASP Abhishek Mohanthy would take charge in a couple of days. It may be recalled that Akun Sabarwal served as ASP at Dharmavaram in 2006. Later, the higher authorities have not posted IPS officers at sensitive division, which has been the hub for various illicit activities.
Dharmavaram town was the centre point for decade-old faction, between two families, Paritala Ravindra and Maddelacheruvu Suri. Several close aides of both groups, including former municipal vice-chairman, Sheikshavali, were hiding since seven years.
D. Chaman Saheb, another close aide of the slain Paritala Ravindra, was also unofficially expelled from the district to curb factions. With the general elections expected soon, the government has concentrated on Dharmavaram police division by posting an IPS official, sources said.
