Bollywood bound

Music director and singer Gopi Sundar is all set to start a new innings in Bollywood.

Having already made a mark in Bollywood after being the voice of Shahrukh Khan in the song "Ban ke titli..." from the blockbuster 'Chennai Express', Gopi Sundar is all set to start a new innings on the Bollywood pitch. He will be the music director for three of John Abraham's upcoming films including the one titled 'Shaadi Ka Ghar'.

In fact, it was John himself who evinced an interest in Gopi for composing music for his films.

Gopi narrates, “John likes watching Malayalam movies and he happened to watch 'Usthad Hotel' and he appreciated the songs and showed an interest in meeting me. I went to Mumbai and met him and came back with three films in which he stars in my kitty!"

The films will start only by next year end. Asked if he would be moving to Mumbai when that happens, Gopi smiles and says that he can still be based in Kerala and compose his music.

He has worked across various genres but there is a wish that is unfulfilled when it comes to a particular genre, “I am waiting to work on a pure Carnatic composition! That is one genre that I have not handled so far and if that happens then people can expect a different level of Carnatic composition than the normal one! I am waiting for such a composition to come my way and also want to do a folk number."

Gopi has been a prolific music director in Mollywood and he very confidently states that no other music director would have done the body of work that he has this year. He quips, “It will be double in the coming year and I may even have two releases every month. The reason I can manage this is because I am very fast with the production aspect of the music. My motto is speed with quality!"
