If actresses like Anushka Sharma and Genelia D’Souza look dazzling on screen, it is thanks in part, to the efforts of Puneet B. Saini. Puneet has taken care of the make-up for some of B’town’s leading actresses and says of why she chose the field: “I have always had an eye for beautiful things.”
Puneet worked with Nina Ricci and Mac Cosmetics until finally, deciding to freelance. A plan to open her own academy was on the anvil but her work with celebrities absorbed her so much that she continued with it. She still enjoys every aspect of her work, Puneet says. “I love looking at the end result of what I do and the joy it brings to the person sitting in the chair. I was called by Neha Dhupia for an event. One thing led to another and I worked with her for almost six months. The first film I worked on was Gandhi to Hitler, then I went on to do IPL Nights all over India. When I returned (to Mumbai), Genelia, with whom I’d worked before, asked if I’d do the movie Force with her. I took it on and loved the results!” she recounts.
Puneet says, “I must say that all my experiences have been great but working with Mr Bachchan was just awe inspiring. Despite being such a legend, he was so pleasant to work with and a complete gentleman.”
She is currently the personal make-up artiste to Anushka and says, “I have been working with Anushka for over two years now. We’ve done six movies along with editorials and advertorials. She’s great to work with, someone I’m very fond of. The movie to watch out for is Bombay Velvet — you will see Anushka as never before!”
