Karman advances to last 16 with facile win

Mumbai: Lanky Karman Kaur from Delhi showed good court craft as she humbled compatriot Rajshree Rathod 6-4 6-1 to enter the girls' pre-quarterfinals in the CCI-ITF junior tennis tournament here today.

Karman served well and hit her ground strokes deep to dominate the match and wrapped it up in just 45 minutes.

In a long draw-out boys singles tie, Arjun Ramakrishnan overcame Anurag Nenwani 5-7 6-4 6-2, while top two seeds -- Ukranian Alexey Prokopchuk and Sri Lankan Sharmal Dissanayake -- sailed into last 16 by beating their respective rivals without much ado.

Alexey routed Osama Shaikh 6-0 6-4, while Shamal was quite ruthless as he outplayed Dhir Gala 6-2 6-2.
