Man jailed for flying kiss to scribe

Complainant was walking when a stranger standing stared at her for a while and then gave her a flying kiss.

Mumbai: A flying kiss to a female television journalist led to the arrest of lands a 22-year-old man here. The incident took place in Grant Road area on Saturday night. The accused has been identified as Rahul Umesh Tilak, a resident of Gajdharbandh area of Santa Cruz (west). Tilak works in a private firm.

The complainant in the case is a 22-year-old (name withheld) who works for a regional news channel. After wrapping up the day’s work, she was on her way to her residence on Saturday night around 11 pm when the incident took place.

“The complainant was walking opposite the Gulistan Hotel at the Sagale Chowk. A stranger standing near the traffic signal stared at her for a while and then gave her a flying kiss. Shocked, the victim called out to a policeman present at some distance from the spot and made sure the accused was caught. He has not given any clear reason as to why made the vulgar gesture,” police said.

Tilak has been booked under section 509 (word, gesture or act intended to insult the modesty of a woman) of Indian Penal Code.
