Kochi: Kerala girl Lekha Unni made the nation proud by finishing on the podium in the girls 1,500 m at the World Schools Athletics Championship in Brasilia, Brazil on Sunday.
Lekha, a trainee of Olympian Mercy Kuttan bagged bronze in the event organised by International School Sports Federation in humid conditions.
The 15-year-old clocked 4:58.23 to finish third while Russian Elena Paushkina, 4:38.31 and Natalia Dias Passos of Brazil with a time of 4:50.08 got gold and silver.
