Gujarat officials to collect iron for Sardar statue from Kerala
Thiruvananthapuram: A team of Gujarat leaders and officials are coming to Kerala for coordinating with the initiative of collecting iron from farmers in the State for the construction of ‘The Statue of Unity’ to be built in memory of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel.
Gujarat Water Resources Minister Babubhai Bokhiriya, Chhota Udepur District Collector Jenu Devan, who also happens to be a Kottayam native and Kerala cadre IAS official Sanjeev Kaul, will be camping in the State from Dec 9 -11.
According to BJP state president V. Muraleedharan, Kaul who was the former District Collector of Thiruvananthapuram, had come to Kerala to do the preparatory work ahead of the Gujarati delegation’s visit next week.
BJP sources said the delegation was also expected to attend the meeting with party district presidents and general secretaries in Kochi on Nov 10 where the fund raising initiative by the state would be accounted.
On the same evening, a trust named ‘Mantra of Development’ will hold a meeting, ‘India first, Modi the best’ which will be attended by eminent personalities.
Senior leader Dr Subramanyan Swamy who had recently rooted for Narendra Modi as prime minister, is expected to attend the meeting.
