Aadhaar subsidy to be streamlined

Aadhaar-LPG-bank account to be streamlined.
Rajahmundry: With the Aadhaar-LPG-bank account linkage touching 84 per cent and 7.66 lakh out of 9.15 lakh LPG consumers and the Aadhaar cards issued to 91 per cent, East Godavari district leads in the state, in linkage and Aadhaar cards issued as well. But there is a strong feeling and desire among LPG consumers, for streamlining of the subsidy transfer, as they had to run from pillar to post to get their subsidy, even after five months of implementation of the scheme.
After the delivery through online booking, some of the consumers were forced to visit the LPG dealer, for the transfer of subsidy amount. A special grievances cell was set up at the collectorate with 0884-2765428.
For example, a resident of Tilak Street of Kakinada, Ch. Pandu Ranga Rao, has LPG connection with Sri Ramakrishana Gas Agency and failed to get subsidy for as many as six cylinders from July to November. When he checked with the local authorities, to his dismay he found the money was transferred to SBI account of one Nallamilli Sridevi, at G. Mamidada in the district, instead of his IOB account.
“Based on the advice by local SBI authorities, I opened a savings account with the bank. But I am being forced to go from pillar to post, in the last two months, with no sign of getting the amount,” he said here on Sunday.
When contacted, the bank’s district manager, S. Jagannadha Swamy, said that the entire subsidy amount will be routed through the National Payments Corporation to the respective bank branches and they will have no role to play in the transfer of subsidy, he said. East Godavari district supply officer, Vemuri Ravi Kiran said that the complaints received at the collectorate will be routed to the banks concerned for rectifying and recording the complaints.Gandhi statue circle till the Red Cross Centre.
