Junior Nationals from Tuesday

Bengaluru: As many as 1700 athletes from across the country will participate in the 29th National Junior Athletic Championships which will be held at the Sree Kanteerva Stadium from December 3-7.

This is the sixth time that the state is hosting the five day event.

The event which will also serve as selection trials for Asian and other internation al events will be held in the U-20, U-18, U-16 and U-14 categories.

Speaking about the event, G. Parameshwara, president of KAAA said that boarding and lodging for the athletes will be provided and all measures will be taken to ensure proper dope test and age verification.

“Maintenance of the ground is not international level. The conditions are not ideal, but I will speak to DYES to get the repairs done in time,“ Parameshwara said, while ensuring proper sanitation is also in the top priority bracket.

Karnataka will field 147 ath letes in the meet, including top contenders Meghana Shetty, Pranitha Pradeep among others, while Kerala top the list with around 200.
