Ganja sales too now go online
Thrissur: Children of well-off families in Kodungallur, including those having parents abroad, are engaged in ganja trade through Facebook and mobile application ‘WhatsApp.’ This has been revealed by the Excise Intelligence wing following the arrest of a few students who were caught distributing ganja.
Most of the children are in the age group of 14-17. Excise Intelligence official Abdul Jamal said the children revealed during questioning that they used codes such as ‘nice’ to deal with their clients.
They are trapped by ganja mafias through social networking sites and applications to expand their business.
The grade, amount, quantity etc are decided through these channels. Jamal said more students were likely to be arrested soon in this connection.
He also said the Excise didn’t have a cyber wing to track the rackets.
