Cyclone hit farmers to get subsidy

AP Chief Minister declares Rs 437 crore subsidy for cyclone hit farmers and fishermen.
Hyderabad: Chief Minister N. Kiran Kumar Reddy said that Rs 437 crore, the input subsidy pending to farmers, fishermen, and animal husbandry farmers hit by Neelam cyclone and drought in the state, will be released immediately.
The Chief Minister on Saturday held a video conference at the Secretariat with the collectors regarding the relief works relating to cyclones, heavy rains and drought in the state. Speaking at the video conference, Chief Minister complimented all the collectors and officials concerned for the preparedness to meet the Lehar cyclone. Mr Reddy said enumeration should be done very carefully so that all eligible farmers who suffered loss or damage should be included.
He said the details should be verified and asked the collectors not to change the list once it is submitted and not to entertain additional list. The Chief Minister announced that the compensation for damaged coconut trees are increased from Rs 150 to Rs 500 per tree, and compensation will also paid for all animals lost. The Chief Minister said that enumeration reports should be sent by December 7. The conference was attended by ministers N. Raghuveera Reddy, Kanna Laxminarayana, M. Mahidhar Reddy and other officials.
