Little Swami Vivekananda

P. Janardhan Reddy’s grandson plays the titular role in the film 'Swami Vivekananda'

P. Janardhan Reddy’s grandson Prabhath plays the titular role in the film 'Swami Vivekananda'. Interestingly, the film being directed by Suresh Bujji, features only child actors.

Earlier films on the philosopher-saint have not been commercially successful, including a film produced by T. Subbarami Reddy, directed by G.V. Iyer.

“There are 10 songs in my film and most of them are patriotic,” says first-time director Suresh, who shot around the locales of Kanyakumari, Madurai, Horsley Hills and Yadagiri Gutta. “We wanted a century-old atmosphere, so we chose these locations,” he adds.

His search for the perfect child artiste to play the role of Swami Vivekananda ended with young Prabhath. “His parents agreed to let him shoot for my film, but only during his holidays,” Suresh shares. The film has been completed and cleared by the Censor Board with a U certificate. “I have shown the film to Dasari garu and the people at the Ramakrishna Mission, and they have all appreciated it,” says Suresh, who plans to release the film in the third week of this month.
