Chimpanzees, bat eared foxes to join Mysore zoo soon

Mysore Zoo to get two male chimpanzees and four Bat eared foxes.
Mandya: After the passing away of Chimpanzee Wali which was one of its prime attractions, Mysore Zoo, for the first time is set to add four more attractions.
The Zoo is getting two male chimpanzees and four Bat eared foxes including two males and two females, from Singapore Zoo. The animals are expected to depart from Singapore on Saturday and arrive at Chennai airport by Saturday evening. They could reach Mysore Zoo by Sunday morning.
These animals are being brought under an Animal exchange programme. Mysore Zoo has already given one Male LTM and a Bear to Singapore Zoo last month.
The chimps will be kept in quarantine for a short while before they are exposed to public viewing, said zoo sources.
One more female chimpanzee which is still being weaned, is expected at the zoo shortly, sources said.
With the two new chimpanzees, the number of chimps at the Zoo will increase to six. The Zoo is also expected to get two male zebras and two female zebras from Tel Aviv Zoo, Israel as a gift. With the Central Zoo Authority approving the proposal, the Zebras are expected to arrive in two months, Zoo sources said.
