Ajith’s midnight dance in Hyderabad

Thala performed an impromptu jig, when he saw the finished version of the song, for 'Veeram'.

After the success of 'Arrambam', Ajith is all set to enthrall the audience with his next flick 'Veeram', in a different avatar. Steering clear from his earlier stylish action movies, he turns ‘son of the soil’ in a typical dhoti clad rural get up thanks to director Siva. After riding sports bikes and cars in his previous movies, Ajith would be riding a bullock cart in 'Veeram' and there’s also a folk song for him for the first time.

Speaking to DC in an exclusive , Siva says, “After almost six years you can see Ajith romancing a heroine with proper duet songs. His on-screen chemistry with Tamannah is awesome and its refreshingly new.” Quiz him if the actor felt apprehensive during close romantic scenes and he replies with a smile, “We have conceptualised the love scenes keeping his age and on screen image in mind. It’s a mass family action entertainer which would cater to all A, B and C centers’ audiences”.

Siva reveals that Thala’s opening song which projects the lifestyle of the character Vinayagam that he portrays in Veeram, is a mass number. “It is a pucca local song with all the mass elements. After we edited the peppy number, we showed it to Ajith sir at the hotel in Hyderabad where he was staying. It was already past 2 am. He was so engrossed that he started dancing once again to Devi Sri Prasad’s tunes”.

The Sirutthai director vouches that Ajith’s change over from urban roles he was playing so far to a rustic chap, is properly justified. “His versatility is common knowledge and has done it with effortless ease. The only time Ajith and I have had a difference of opinion was while shooting for risky stunt sequences. I would insist that he should use a body double for action scenes but he would never oblige.”
